We are aware that some AOL users are unable to receive messages from our web site.
Although we rarely send out bulk email, we provide administrators the service
of notifying their pool members in bulk. Because of this, some spam filters may have
blacklisted our domain or IP address.
AOL has told us that our mail server has been 'whitelisted', which means that AOL SHOULD be accepting email
from our site. However, we are still hearing occasional reports of problems.
Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about this. One thing we have done
is to tag all email as being sent from our own email account (you'll notice that
all messages originating from Office-Pools.com appear to originate from commissioner@office-pools.com). The reason for this is
that we can't really trust the email addresses that we're given from our users since
some people provide bogus addresses. Having a bogus originating email address is
one of the most blatant indications of spam, and this would cause problems with our ISP.
Those affected may not be able to receive their passwords from our Forgot Password
feature. If you've tried using it and haven't received your password, you may either
create a new login, or send a message to us
and we can look it up for you.
Others affected may not even be aware. For example,
if you're sending an invitation to a friend and they don't receive it. If they're not expecting
it, you might not be aware they didn't receive it. For these reasons, we recommend that
pool administrators follow up on the inviations they send. You can also copy-and-paste the
invitation message into your own email tool and send it out directly.
